Endeavor Lab

The newsletter dedicated to your personal and professional growth.

Welcome, what's to come, the Job Search Accelerator, and the Costa Rica Retreat

Welcome to the first edition of Endeavor Lab!

This newsletter is dedicated to everyone consciously committed to improving themselves and the world. Those endeavors, big and small, make all the difference. True fulfillment comes from a feeling of personal growth and positive impact on those around us, not from the titles we're given or the things we buy.

Although it's tempting to try to change ourselves and our circumstances alone, we are far more likely to succeed when we work together.

This community is a way for us to bring out the best in each other. In future editions, we'll dive more into trends, insights, and opportunities to achieve our most-ambitious goals.

Why the name Endeavor Lab?

250 years ago, a young farm boy raised in poverty set sail as the Captain of the HMS Endeavour. His name was James Cook, and he became one of the greatest explorers of all time.

There are 3 things that make Captain Cook's story incredibly relevant for us today:

  1. He started with nothing. It was completely unreasonable for him to dream of being an explorer when he grew up. That's just not how things worked in the 1700s. He had hardly even left the farm as a child, but maybe that feeling of being stuck in one place was exactly what fueled his passion for exploration. I know many of us can relate.

  2. He risked everything. James Cook was offered command of his own trading ship at a young age, which guaranteed him a life of true adventure and significant wealth compared to his early days. Instead of taking this great opportunity, however, he threw it all away to enlist in the British Navy. About 50% of sailors died at sea in those days, and life was incredibly austere. James Cook knew exactly what he wanted, though. As he once wrote, “Ambition leads me not only farther than any other man has been before me, but as far as I think it possible for man to go.” He was all-in on his crazy dream, and we should be, too.

  3. He overcame every obstacle. He set personal standards of excellence so remarkable that he was soon recognized by the King of England. He ultimately passed every social barrier and became one of the first commoners to ever rise through the ranks and become a British Naval Officer. Not too shabby.

My challenge to you is to be like Captain James Cook. Set unrealistic goals, never settle for what's easy or comfortable, and refuse to take no for an answer. There is an undeniable power in that level of clarity, courage, and commitment.
